There's a nice column by Eugene Robinson in
today's Washington Post about the media's desire to only focus attention on missing, white, middle-class women. Sure there are tons of missing people in the country, but only one segment of the population makes the rounds on the 24-hour cable news channels. Maybe, just maybe, it's because news directors, producers, and editors only "care" about the well-being of those like themselves...heaven forbid they open their eyes and realize this country actually includes the other demographics that advertisers always ignore.
